The Linn-Mar Lions can become the first area girls’ team to get an asterisk by their name in the standings.
Linn-Mar can wrap up a title share if it defeats Dubuque Wahlert tonight at home. The Lions are 15-0 overall, 11-0 in the MVC and have a four-game lead in the loss column.
The game’s at home, so the Lions ought to be safe. Wahlert is 8-0 at home, 3-4 on the road.

CEDAR RAPIDS — It is the most surprising 12-0 Class 4A boys’ basketball team in the state this season, and the surprise has just about everyone asking “Who?”
Cedar Rapids Kennedy joins top-ranked and highly regarded Ames as the only two remaining unbeaten 4A teams. Everyone expected the Little Cyclones to be there. No one thought for a moment the second-ranked Cougars would be riding sidesaddle.

The state high school wrestling tournament is just a little more than three weeks away. No event in the state is as grand as the one held by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
Towns shut down, flocking to Des Moines just to watch one or two wrestlers compete. It’s where tradition meets intense passion.
