when it comes to competition in Eastern Iowa. My opinion, Class 1A might be the most competitive class in these parts.
Belle Plaine, North Linn and BGM are ranked. Belle Plaine and North Linn have two really strong programs who I think can compete with most no matter of size. Lisbon isn’t ranked, but is as good as any team, owning at least one dual win over a 3A school. East Buchanan hasn’t even been mentioned and they returned a wealth of talent this year and is strong.

It’s cold outside. Brutally cold. I was just shoveling the snow that the snowplow thrust back into my driveway (some of our landscaping rocks were in there too), and my nose is still running. It just dripped onto my laptop.

WAUKON – Gene Klinge doesn’t walk on water.
But after six seasons as girls’ basketball coach, he has become respected – even revered – in the Allamakee County seat.
“He’s everything to us,” said Carissa Berger, one of several talented juniors on this year’s team. “We just want to impress him and please him. We don’t want to disappoint him.
“People up here call him Basketball Jesus.”
