Apparently, that’s the nickname for Gene Klinge in Waukon.
“He’s everything to us,” said Carissa Berger. “We just want to impress him and please him. We don’t want to disappoint him.

CEDAR RAPIDS – Matt Haas feels like he’s put a little bit of the “rivalry” in Rivalry Saturday.
Haas is the head boys’ basketball coach at Highland Community High School in Riverside and the director for Saturday’s St. Luke’s Sports Medicine Rivalry Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Center.
This is the second year for the boys’ event, and Haas has put together a six-game classic that kicks off at noon with a match up between old Big East Conference rivals North Cedar and Lisbon.

It’s a safe bet that Taylor Reicks appreciates his 2006 state wrestling medal more today than when he was a freshman.
The MFL MarMac senior hasn’t been able to finish a season in Des Moines since then, but Reicks hopes to bracket his prep career with a final medal — preferably gold.

During some of the wrestling duals I’ve attended I’ve seen coaches and teams have a wrestler at a weight class, but forfeit the weight. There are instances where I don’t understand or agree with it.
First for the times I agree. If a kid is hurt, risks injury or the team has a chance to win by shuffling the lineup around, then I understand the move. It makes sense and is a good strategy.
