It snowed yesterday. It’s supposed to snow tonight.
But there will be basketball tonight, apparently a full slate. I see a couple games are being moved up a couple hours to give visiting teams a good opportunity to get home safely.
Smart move.
I’m at Cedar Rapids Kennedy, where the Cougars will go after their sixth straight win. They play Iowa City West.

CEDAR RAPIDS – The legs are fine. The lungs are a step behind.
But Jade Rogers had enough strength and enough stamina to hoist her team at the end.
Rogers’ basket with 7 seconds left gave Cedar Rapids Kennedy the lead for good, and the Class 4A seventh-ranked Cougars edged No. 12 Iowa City West, 56-55, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls’ basketball game last night at Kennedy.

MARION – It was easy to sense as soon as the Linn-Mar Lions began their pregame warm-up.
Smiles were broad and the Lions laughed easily. There was plenty of palm- and fanny-slapping. Senior Zach Bohannon was even goofing with the young ball boy.
The Lions were relaxed and obviously ready to return to their normal winning ways.
Class 4A third-ranked Linn-Mar scored the game’s first 18 points, enjoying themselves all the way, and cruised to a seemingly effortless 74-43 Mississippi Valley Conference victory last night over visiting Waterloo East.

Chad Underwood scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Cedar Rapids Jefferson to a 52-26 victory last night in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ basketball game at Cedar Falls.
Cole Kramer added 14 points with four 3-pointers, and Justin Derby also scored 14 points for the J-Hawks (5-3, 2-3).
