Karly Cochrane scored 12 points last night to lead Mount Vernon to a 61-53 victory at Iowa City Regina.

Class 3A top-ranked Sioux City Heelan defeated Class 4A top-ranked Linn-Mar last night, 49-42, in a highly anticipated matchup in Sioux City.

IOWA CITY — David Solis took his turn hanging 10 on the wave of momentum established by his Iowa City West wrestling teammates Saturday afternoon.
Following pins by Nick Moore and Derek St. John, Solis stuck Marian (Ill.) Catholic’s Caleb Dyson in 3 minutes, 3 seconds at 171 pounds to give the Trojans the lead for good in a 45-26 victory. The come-from-behind win capped a perfect 5-0 day for West at its own Lepic Duals.

MARION — Western Dubuque responded well after losing a strong group of seniors from last year’s regional dual-qualifying team. The Bobcats remained unbeaten Saturday, going 4-0 to win the team title at the Linn-Mar Team Dual Tournament.
“The kids who were waiting for their chance are getting the job done,” Western Dubuque Coach Tom Danner said. “There have been a lot of great surprises.”
