They’re holding their breath at Tipton.
Missy Miller, the area’s leading scorer at 22.7 points per game, injured her knee in the Tigers’ 62-40 win over Calamus-Wheatland on Saturday. Her father, Darren, said a diagnosis is pending.
The younger sister of 2007 Gazette Female Athlete of the Year Ashley Miller, Missy is one of the frontrunners to capture the 2009 award. She was the 2A state cross country runner-up in November and (if healthy) is projected to be one of the area’s best track competitors in the spring.

MARION – When Chris Robertson took over as boys’ basketball coach at Linn-Mar High School before the 2005-06 season, he called the appointment a “dream come true.”
Robertson has never awakened from that dream.
Linn-Mar, ranked co-No. 1 with Ames in the latest Associated Press Class 4A poll, heads into the final two months of the 2008-09 regular season with a 5-0 record and sits as an early favorite to make its sixth straight trip to the state tournament in March.
